3rd Annual Oak Cliff Film Festival

Oak Cliff Film Festival kicks off this Thursday, June 19 and runs through Sunday, June 22, honoring both the future and past of filmmaking and celebrating the legacy of pioneering photographer Eadweard Muybridge, (Horse in Motion, 1878)  The 3rd annual festival seeks to showcase the best of independent filmmaking of all stripes from Texas-based filmmakers, as well as the rest of the country and the world. Gaining popularity each year, 2014 will feature 22 full length films and 6 short films. You can order single tickets for $10 or go all in with a VIP badge for $175. The festival will take place in the heart of the burgeoning Jefferson Blvd and the Bishop Art District. Most screenings take place at Texas Theatre. Additional screening locations include Bishop Arts Theatre Center, The Kessler Theatre, Oil and Cotton, The Belmont Hotel and the Jefferson Tower. The event will also highlight restaurants and other popular Oak Cliff sites with additional screenings, panel discussions, and nightly parties. “The Oak Cliff community has been vital to the success of the festival and we look to this year as being a celebration of our neighborhood,” says festival Co-Founder Eric Steele.

While the Oak Cliff Film Festival may seem like just a collection of indie films, it’s eclectic enough to schedule events like a performance from the experimental multimedia band Negativland. Bike Friendly Oak Cliff and New Belgium Brewery have teamed up and are leading a bike tour around Oak Cliff that concludes with a free rooftoop screening at the Jefferson Tower.
